A Complete Guide to VRF Central Air Conditioning Cleaning and Maintenance
VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) central air conditioning systems consist of multiple indoor units and one outdoor unit. They rely on refrigerant circulation for heating and cooling. Compared to traditional air conditioners, they have a more sophisticated structure and more complex piping. Cleaning and maintenance require different approaches: routine self-maintenance, quarterly deep cleaning, and annual professional maintenance . Standardized operation can prevent problems such as filter clogging, heat exchanger buildup, drain blockage, and soaring energy consumption, extending equipment lifespan and ensuring healthy airflow and stable operation. The following is a standardized and practical complete cleaning and maintenance procedure.
I. Routine self-cleaning and maintenance (once a month, a basic requirement)
Routine maintenance requires no professional tools. Focusing on shallow cleaning of the indoor unit and basic operational checks is the core to prevent air conditioner from accumulating dirt and aging. In environments with a lot of dust, pets, or heavy oil fumes, maintenance should be increased to once every two weeks.
1. Indoor unit filter cleaning (core project)
The filter is the first line of defense against dust. If it gets clogged, it will directly lead to poor airflow, poor cooling and heating, and mold buildup inside.
Operating Instructions: Turn off the air conditioner power, open the indoor unit's return air vent panel, and gently pull out the filter. Rinse the filter with clean water in the reverse direction.
