Application areas of exposed fan coil units

Exposed fan coil units are divided into two main types: horizontal and vertical. Their core advantages are that they do not require a suspended ceiling, are easy to install, convenient to inspect and maintain, and have strong adaptability. They do not require complicated decoration and are characterized by low noise operation and flexible temperature control. They are widely applicable to spaces without suspended ceilings, renovations of old buildings, temporary buildings, and various civil, commercial, and industrial places where the flexibility of air conditioning installation is required. Specific application scenarios are as follows.

 


I. Commercial office space

These types of spaces are characterized by high population density, flexible temperature control requirements, and the lack of suspended ceilings in some older office buildings and simple office areas, making them well-suited for the installation characteristics of surface-mounted fan coil units. In conventional office buildings, open-plan offices and individual workspaces can be fitted with vertical surface-mounted units, positioned along walls or under windows to precisely cover the activity areas and provide even cooling and heating. For renovations of older office buildings, loft-style offices, and temporary office spaces, horizontal surface-mounted units are preferred, as they do not require demolition of existing fixtures, resulting in shorter construction periods and lower renovation costs. Furthermore, the low-noise operation of these units effectively avoids interference from air conditioning equipment noise, meeting the comfort needs of long-term office work. In addition, small shops, street-front stores, and temporary showrooms also frequently utilize surface-mounted fan coil units to meet the operational needs of rapid deployment and flexible temperature control.

II. Hotels and Accommodation

Hotels, guesthouses, and residential communities with centralized heating and cooling are among the core application scenarios for exposed fan coil units. Hotel guest rooms often use vertical exposed fan coil units, installed under the window or in a corner, without occupying major indoor space. The airflow direction can be flexibly adjusted to meet the comfortable temperature control needs of guests for rest and accommodation. The exposed structure of the unit facilitates daily inspection of equipment operation and cleaning of filters by staff, significantly reducing hotel operation and maintenance costs.

III. Medical and Health Care Facilities

Hospital wards, outpatient clinics, community clinics, and health and wellness centers have high requirements for environmental temperature stability, noise levels, and air quality, making exposed fan coil units suitable for their operating characteristics. These units operate with low noise, minimizing disruption to patient rest and doctors' work, while also supporting precise temperature control to maintain a constant indoor temperature environment, meeting the comfort and hygiene requirements of medical settings.

IV. Educational and Cultural Venues

Classrooms, training rooms, libraries, small and medium-sized lecture halls, gymnasiums, and convention centers in higher education institutions generally have ample ceiling height and are often simply decorated without suspended ceilings, making them suitable for installing exposed fan coil units. In classrooms, libraries, and other densely populated static spaces, the low noise and uniform airflow of the units create a quiet and comfortable learning environment for teachers and students. In large convention centers, stadiums, lecture halls, and other large spaces, multiple exposed units can be connected in parallel to achieve wide-area uniform temperature control, meeting the heating and cooling needs of concentrated activities. Furthermore, the equipment is easy to maintain, suitable for the high-frequency, long-term stable operation requirements of schools and venues, and subsequent maintenance does not require disassembling the suspended ceiling, significantly reducing the difficulty of operation and maintenance.

V. Transportation and Public Hubs

Public transportation spaces such as subway stations, high-speed rail stations, and bus hubs are characterized by high pedestrian traffic, open spaces, and minimalist commercial designs with minimal complex ceiling decorations, making them ideal application scenarios for exposed fan coil units. These locations require high equipment stability and efficient airflow. Exposed fan coil units offer large air volume and rapid cooling/heating response, quickly regulating the temperature of large public areas and alleviating stuffiness during peak hours.

VI. Industrial and Special Supporting Facilities

In addition to civilian and commercial applications, surface-mounted fan coil units are also suitable for some industrial applications and special scenarios. Firstly, they are ideal for light industrial workshops, electronics factories, and small clean laboratories, where the precise temperature control of the units can maintain the constant temperature environment required for production and experiments, meeting the environmental requirements of light industrial production and precision experiments. Secondly, they are suitable for industrial spaces such as factory offices, workshop rest areas, and warehouse-converted office areas, where there are no suspended ceilings and simple decorations, allowing for quick installation and use of surface-mounted units. Thirdly, they are ideal for various temporary buildings, construction site dormitories, and emergency rooms, where the flexible installation, reusability, and high cost-effectiveness of surface-mounted fan coil units perfectly meet the short-term temperature control needs of temporary spaces.
