The core reason why water-cooled air conditioners are more comfortable than refrigerant-cooled air conditioners

Water-cooled central air conditioning systems offer significantly superior comfort compared to conventional refrigerant-based air conditioners. The core reason lies in the difference in the properties of the heat exchange medium : water-cooled systems use water as the heat exchange medium, while refrigerant-based systems use refrigerant (Freon). The specific heat capacity, heat exchange temperature, and dehumidification characteristics of the two media are completely different. Ultimately, water-cooled systems achieve a constant temperature, constant humidity, gentle airflow, and uniform temperature living experience, perfectly avoiding the pain points of refrigerant-based systems such as biting cold air, excessive dryness, and large temperature differences. The specific differences are reflected in four core dimensions.

I. Gentle and non-irritating airflow, without any hot or cold shock.

The properties of the medium determine the difference between the outlet air temperature and the perceived airflow. Water has a much higher specific heat capacity than Freon, resulting in a smoother heat exchange process and a more stable temperature.

Fluorine-cooled refrigeration systems have an outlet air temperature of only 7-12℃ . The extremely low outlet air temperature results in a significant temperature difference when the cold air blows directly onto the human body, causing a noticeable, bone-chilling cold sensation. Sudden changes in temperature can easily cause discomfort, and prolonged exposure to direct airflow can lead to problems such as dizziness and joint pain.

The water-cooled air outlet temperature is stable at 15-18℃ , which is closer to the human body's comfortable temperature range. The airflow is warm and gentle, close to natural cool air, without any cold or irritating feeling. The whole house cools down gradually without any sudden local cooling. The elderly, children, and people with respiratory sensitivities will not experience discomfort even after staying for a long time.

II. precise humidity control prevents dryness and eliminates "air conditioning sickness".

This is the core comfort advantage of water purifiers. The essence of air conditioning drying is not "blowing air to remove moisture," but rather excessive condensation and dehumidification through low-temperature airflow.

The air outlet temperature of a refrigerant-based air conditioner is extremely low. When the air passes through the low-temperature evaporator, a large amount of water vapor will be quickly condensed and released, and the indoor humidity will drop rapidly to below 30%. Long-term use can cause problems such as dry mouth and tongue, tight skin, dry nasal passages, and itchy throat, which are also the main causes of daily "air conditioning sickness".

Water purifiers have higher air outlet temperatures and smaller heat exchange temperature differences, preventing excessive condensation of moisture in the air. They can stably maintain indoor humidity within the golden range of 40%-60% , which is most comfortable for the human body. The air in the whole house is warm and moist without being dry, and there will be no dryness or discomfort even if the machine is turned on all night. It is perfectly suited for long-term home use.

III. Uniform temperature throughout the house, with no temperature dead spots.

Water has strong thermal inertia and better heat exchange uniformity. Water purifiers circulate heat through water pipes, and fan coil units dissipate heat smoothly and evenly, resulting in a very small temperature gradient throughout the house. The overall temperature difference is usually no more than 2℃, and there will be no temperature difference issues such as cold windows and stuffy rooms, or cold air vents and hot corners. The whole house has an excellent constant temperature experience.

Freon-based air conditioners rely on refrigerant for rapid heat exchange, resulting in fast cooling and heating, but poor uniformity. This can lead to uneven temperatures in areas near the air vents, while areas further away from the vents experience slower cooling, resulting in inconsistent heating and cooling throughout the house and significantly reducing comfort. Furthermore, Freon-based air conditioners have a wider temperature range during start-up and shutdown, leading to more noticeable temperature fluctuations.

IV. Superior heating experience in winter, suitable for whole-house heating.

In winter heating scenarios, the comfort gap between the two widens further. The refrigerant-based heating system has a higher outlet air temperature and higher air velocity, and the hot air is concentrated in the upper part of the room, which can easily cause the discomfort of "hot head and cold feet". In addition, the heating process continuously dehumidifies, making the room abnormally dry, which can easily cause dryness and heatiness.

Most water-cooled air conditioners support a combined air conditioning and underfloor heating mode. In winter, the underfloor heating mode can be switched on, and the heat rises slowly from the ground, meeting the human body's health and comfort needs of "warm feet and cool head". The whole house is heated evenly, without drafts or noise, and does not excessively consume air humidity. The heating comfort is far superior to that of refrigerant-cooled air conditioners.

Supplementary Summary

In short, refrigerant-based air conditioners prioritize rapid temperature control, sacrificing humidity and airflow for efficiency, making them suitable for small apartments and short-term use; water-based air conditioners prioritize a comfortable experience with constant temperature and humidity, using the gentle heat exchange properties of water to best meet the physiological comfort needs of the human body, making them the preferred choice for large apartments and long-term home use. This is also the core reason why high-end residences generally come standard with water-based central air conditioning systems.
