Complete requirements for restaurant central air conditioning installation
Restaurants are unique commercial settings characterized by high population density, large amounts of cooking fumes, and significant temperature and humidity fluctuations. Central air conditioning installation in these environments must consider comfort and ventilation, fume protection, fire safety, energy efficiency and noise reduction, and compliant construction practices, distinguishing them from ordinary commercial and residential settings. The following outlines the complete set of core installation requirements, in accordance with catering industry standards and construction regulations, covering the entire process from initial preparation, equipment selection, construction and installation, to acceptance and maintenance.
I. Zoning Design and Load Configuration Requirements
The core of a restaurant should have separate design for the dining area, kitchen area, and food preparation area . Sharing a single ventilation system is strictly prohibited to avoid cross-contamination of fumes and temperature imbalances.
1. Dining area : This area is densely populated and generates a lot of heat. The cooling load should be configured at 220-280W/㎡, with an appropriate increase in the load in areas with high customer traffic during peak hours. It is necessary to ensure a constant and comfortable temperature, with a temperature control of 24-26℃ in summer and 18-22℃ in winter, and a gentle airflow without any direct blowing sensation.
2. Kitchen area : High temperature, high oil fume, high humidity and heat environment, with a separate kitchen-specific central air conditioning system, designed with a load of 350-450W/㎡; the equipment must be suitable for high temperature conditions, resistant to high temperature and oil stains, and prevent ordinary models from aging and failing due to high temperature and oil fume.
3. Independent zone control : The air conditioning systems in the two zones can be switched on and off independently and controlled independently. They can be started and stopped separately according to the business status, reducing energy consumption during non-business hours and adapting to the restaurant's off-peak operation needs.
II . Equipment Selection and Installation Location Requirements
(a) Indoor unit installation requirements
1. Dining area : Prioritize low-noise ducted air conditioners and cassette air conditioners, with recessed ceiling installation to match the restaurant's decor; avoid direct airflow from the dining table to prevent discomfort for diners; sufficient space should be reserved for ceiling installation, with a building height of no less than 2.7m recommended to prevent the ceiling from feeling oppressive.
2. Kitchen area : The indoor unit must be kept away from heat sources such as stoves, steamers, and ovens, at least 1.5m away, and avoid direct exhaust paths for fumes; it should be installed above the kitchen buffer zone and food preparation area to prevent fumes from directly adsorbing onto the internal components and reduce blockage and corrosion problems.
3. Structural load-bearing requirements : The load-bearing capacity of the ceiling installation location must be ≥ 1.5 times the self-weight of the equipment to prevent the equipment from falling off and the ceiling from deforming; the horizontal error of the indoor unit installation should be ≤ 1mm/m, and double nuts should be used for anti-loosening fixation to prevent abnormal vibration and noise during operation.

(II) Outdoor unit installation requirements
1. Choose a well-ventilated, unobstructed area for installation, and leave at least 80cm of space for heat dissipation and maintenance to avoid poor heat dissipation, increased energy consumption, and compressor overload protection caused by heat accumulation in a closed environment.
2. Keep away from restaurant dining windows and residential areas, and take measures to reduce noise and vibration to avoid disturbing residents with business noise; take measures to protect against rain, sun and rust to adapt to the long-term outdoor operating environment.
3. It is strictly forbidden to install it below the kitchen exhaust vent or in the area where oil fumes spread, to prevent oil stains from adhering to the outdoor unit's condenser and affecting heat exchange efficiency.
III . Ventilation, Fresh Air, and Odor Prevention Requirements
1. Airflow isolation : Strictly implement the design of "positive pressure in the dining area and negative pressure in the kitchen". The exhaust air volume in the kitchen is greater than the supply air volume, which completely prevents kitchen fumes and odors from entering the dining area and ensures a fresh dining environment.
2. Fresh air system : Restaurants with high population density need to be equipped with a fresh air system with a fresh air volume of 30m³/(h·person) to replace the stale indoor air in a timely manner and alleviate the problems of stuffiness and odor in the enclosed dining environment.
3. Oil fume protection : A high-density oil-proof filter is installed at the air inlet of the kitchen air conditioner, which can be removed and washed regularly; the air duct and the exhaust system are completely separated, and the air conditioner air and the exhaust pipe are strictly prohibited from being connected to each other to avoid the backflow of oil and exhaust gas.
IV . Noise Reduction and Comfort Performance Requirements
1. Noise control : Low-noise fans and units are selected, and silencer plenum boxes and silencer elbows are installed in the air ducts to optimize the air duct speed; indoor operating noise is ≤40dB, and outdoor units are equipped with shock-absorbing bases to avoid vibration transmission to the walls and causing resonance noise.
2. Airflow organization : Adopting a side-outlet and bottom-return or bottom-outlet uniform air supply mode, avoiding uneven local heating and cooling and dead air zones, ensuring a balanced temperature throughout the area, and improving the dining experience for diners.
V. Energy Saving and Post-Operation and Maintenance Requirements
1. Energy-saving configuration : Variable frequency units are preferred, and fans and water pumps are driven by variable frequency, which can automatically adjust the load according to customer flow and room temperature to reduce operating energy consumption; large restaurants can be equipped with total heat recovery devices to recover exhaust heat and improve energy efficiency.
2. Operation and maintenance adaptation : The system is designed to facilitate daily cleaning and maintenance, and the kitchen filter and evaporator can be quickly disassembled for cleaning; the service provider must provide comprehensive after-sales service, have 24-hour emergency maintenance capabilities, and adapt to the restaurant's uninterrupted operation needs.
